ENGL Driver Managerâ„¢ 7.0.2 for System Center Configuration Manager with Automated machine identification

Implementation

This section will detail the steps necessary to integrate drivers into System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and must be performed in the following order.

Driver Integration

Driver Manager will establish the best installation method for each driver.

Note: Driver Manager will create one Software Package for each machine model and Windows OS/platform. Software Packages created by Driver Manager for System Center Configuration Manager with Automated Machine Identification are not compatible with Driver Manager for System Center Configuration Manager.

The following tasks should be completed.

  1. Run the Integration task.
  2. Select the required machine models / operating systems then click Next twice.

Adding Drivers to Task Sequences

Once Driver Manager has completed processing drivers you can integrate the drivers into an Operating System Deployment (OSD) Task Sequence. During deployment, Driver Installer will query the Driver Manager Query Service (DMQS) to establish the appropriate software package for the machine being deployed. Driver Installer will download the package and install the critical (mass-storage and network) drivers during the WinPE phase of the task sequence, all other drivers will be installed during the Windows phase of the task sequence.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Modify the WinPE phase of the task sequence to run Driver Installer as follows:
    1. Add a Run Command Line step to the Install Operating System (WinPE phase) of the task sequence after the Apply Operating System task sequence step.
    2. Set the Command line to:

      DriverInstaller.exe /dmqs:<DMQS Server> /port:<DMQS port> /status /log:"C:\ENGL\DriverInstaller.log"
    3. Enable the Package option then click Browse to select the DriverInstaller-<platform> package, for example:

      DriverInstaller-x64
  2. Modify the Windows phase of the task sequence to run Driver Installer as follows:
    1. Add a Run Command Line step to the Setup Operating System (Windows phase) of the task sequence after the Setup Windows and Configuration Manager task sequence step.
    2. Set the Command line to:

      DriverInstaller.exe /dmqs:<DMQS Server> /port:<DMQS port> /status /log:"C:\ENGL\DriverInstaller.log"
    3. Enable the Package option then click Browse to select the DriverInstaller-<platform> package, for example:

      DriverInstaller-x64
