ENGL Makes Windows Deployment Easy
With the ENGL Imaging Toolkit™ 5, designed to enhance
Novell® ZENworks® Configuration Management

Wantage, Oxfordshire, 26th September 2007: ENGL, the leading provider of automated Windows deployment solutions for Novell ZENworks, is proud to announce the latest version of its easy-to-use Imaging Toolkit. A suite of enhancement tools for fast-tracking the deployment of Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista, ENGL Imaging Toolkit 5 has been specifically developed to work with Windows Vista and the latest release of Novell ZENworks Configuration Management, a new addition to Novell’s systems management portfolio that helps companies reduce IT complexity while lowering costs.

This new release is the most significant event in ENGL’s calendar in 2007. Imaging Toolkit 5 is designed for organisations who want to realise the benefits of a Standard Operating Environment (SOE), allowing them to simplify the management of their Windows estate by automating the process. With a proven methodology and modular process, ENGL Imaging Toolkit 5 removes the complexity previously associated with Windows deployment – delivering a greater degree of control and automation which dramatically reduces SOE start-up costs – typically from 6 months to a few weeks.

Heath Upton, Director for ENGL, explains: “Windows deployment is generally considered to be a complicated and time consuming exercise. Organisations are therefore often hesitant to tackle these types of projects in-house and tend to outsource. ENGL Imaging Toolkit 5 offers significant efficiencies and cost savings allowing IT departments more control and choice to bring outsourced services back into the organisation. After all, why pay a vendor to clone machines, when you can have full control of the process and make changes internally in a few minutes?”

He adds: “We have deployed the solution across hundreds of thousands of machines around the world - the new release builds on this success and will also empower organisations who are planning to implement Windows Vista.”

Version 5 of the Imaging Toolkit now fully supports the deployment and configuration of Windows Vista using the same proven methodology that has been used to deploy Windows XP for the last 5 years. ENGL customer, Virgin Radio is embarking on a Windows Vista project using Novell ZENworks Configuration Management and ENGL’s Imaging Toolkit 5. David Jones from Virgin Radio comments: “We anticipate deploying Windows Vista in early 2008. To achieve this we will be using ENGL’s Imaging Toolkit Version 5 which enhances the management of ZENworks – both the PC imaging and overall PC roll-out. Our decision to use the Imaging Toolkit is based on quite extensive experience of previous versions of the product, which has made it much easier for us to not only cost-effectively manage our PC deployment but also reduce ongoing desktop maintenance costs as a result.”

As with previous versions of the Imaging Toolkit, Version 5 is tightly integrated with Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management and also with the recently released Novell ZENworks Configuration Management. ENGL has worked very closely with Novell’s technical team to ensure compatibility with the new ZENworks solution.

“Many organisations are looking to move to a Standard Desktop Operating Environment (SOE) to drive down costs and improve IT efficiency," said Martin Buckley, Director of Product Management, Novell. “The ENGL approach makes the creation of the SOE as modular as possible which reduces the total upgrade and maintenance time. Using a combination of Novell ZENworks and ENGL Imaging Toolkit has been proven to dramatically save time and reduce risk.”
